Southampton donates wages to charity after 9-goal home defeat
Southampton (England), Oct 28 (SocialNews.XYZ) Southampton FC's players and coaches have donated the wages they earned on the day of their 0-9 home defeat to Leicester City to charity.

According to a club statement, the team had been mulling over how to "put things right for the club's supporters" at the training centre in the southern English city, Efe news reported.

"As the first step towards that, the group has decided that they wish to donate their wages from the day of the Leicester game to Saints Foundation, in order to help the vital work that is conducted by the charity," the club said.

Southampton conceded 5 goals in the first half in the rainy Premier League game against Leicester on Friday.

Ryan Bertrand was sent off in the 12th minute, bringing them down to 10 men.

A rampant Leicester then finished off the match with four more goals in the second half, equaling the record set by Manchester United against Ipswich in 1995.

Peter Schmeichel was in goals for Man Utd on that day, and his son Kasper guarded the net for Leicester on Friday.

Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl hoped the donation would put an end to the fallout of Friday's shambolic defeat.

"Our only focus is working towards Manchester City. This is where we must direct our entire energy, and this is what we owe to our fans."
