Mumbai, Oct 16 (SocialNews.XYZ) "Hostages", the Indian adaptation of acclaimed Israeli crime thriller of the same name, will be back with its second season soon, it was announced on Wednesday.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sudhir Mishra, the 10-episode web series narrates the tale of a doctor, essayed by Tisca Chopra, whose family is taken hostage and who has to make a tough decision -- kill an innocent man or save her loved ones.

The Hotstar Special series also featured Ronit Roy, Parvin Dabas and Dalip Tahil. It is not yet known if the same cast will be back for the second season.

The show is produced by Banijay Asia, and backed by Applause Entertainment, under the Aditya Birla Group, and Armoza Formats, part of ITV Studios.

"'Hostages' has proved to be a breakthrough series for us which not only received commercial acclaim but was also appreciated by the critics. The audiences in India have evolved over a period and they're constantly appreciating premium drama series that digital has to offer," said Sameer Nair, CEO of Applause Entertainment.

"We had a fantastic first season of our association with Armoza and streaming partner, Hotstar, and are thrilled to begin work on the second season," Nair added.

To this, Louise Melzack, sales director for the UK, Ireland, Africa, the Nordics and Asia at Armoza Formats, added: "We are thrilled to be continuing our incredible partnership with Applause Entertainment and with the success that 'Hostages' has found in India. This is the perfect example of how a great story maintains its appeal and travels internationally to work for all audiences."
