CCPA to meet for deciding on winter session's dates

New Delhi, Oct 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) is to meet on Wednesday to decide on the dates of Parliament's Winter Session.

Headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the CCPA has Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ramvilas Paswan and Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi as its members.

The government has to pass important legislation in the coming session, and is also mulling the idea of passing the controversial Citizen Amendment Bill. Home Minister Amit Shah, in one of his programmes in West Bengal, had asserted that the government will bring this Bill.

The first session of the Narendra Modi government 2.0 saw the abrogation of the Constitution's Article 370 granting special status to Jammu & Kashmir.

The government is trying to maximise the utilization of the parliamentary sessions.

In the first session after the elections, the Parliament had done record business, with 37 sittings of the Lok Sabha and 35 sittings of the Rajya Sabha being held.

During the Session, a total of 40 Bills were introduced in both houses, and out of them, 30 Bills were passed by Parliament.
