US submarine auxiliary ship on two-day visit to India
New Delhi, Oct 14 (SocialNews.XYZ) US submarine auxiliary ship Emory S Land (AS-39) arrived on a two-day goodwill visit at the Visakhapatnam port in Andhra Pradesh on the eastern coast of India on Monday.

Officials from the US Embassy here and the US Consulate are scheduled to join the two-day programme in order to have official interactions with Naval and civil dignitaries.

"During the ship's stay at Visakhapatnam, professional interaction in the form of subject matter expert exchanges and cross visits are planned for exchange of knowledge and sharing best practices among the personnel from both the Navies," said a statement from the Indian Navy.

On arrival, the ship was given a traditional welcome with the Indian Navy Band in attendance. The ship is being commanded by Captain Michael Luckett who has been deployed in support of submarine missions worldwide.

Informal engagements during social functions are also planned in addition to official calls on senior officers of the Eastern Naval Command during the two-day programme.

The ship, which functions as a mobile base for submarines, has more than 50 shops of different specialisations on board that provides basic amenities, including food, water, medicines, ordnance and other requirements that a submarine might require.
