Privatisation of city road maintenance has moved a step forward, with the panel of engineers constituted for studying its feasibility coming up with a recommendation to give out a fifth of the roads on contract for five years.
The proposal received a stamp of approval from the GHMC standing committee on Thursday.
A proposal for annual maintenance contract (AMC) for road maintenance was mooted by Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) K.T. Rama Rao at a recent review meeting.
