Maryam Nawaz's judicial remand extended

Lahore, Oct 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) An accountability court has extended the judicial remand of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz and her cousin Yousaf Abbas in a corruption case.

As duty judge Jawadul Hassan resumed hearing on Wednesday, a prosecutor of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) appeared and sought time to file reference against the suspects, Dawn news reported.

He said investigation into charges of money laundering was underway, adding that reference would be filed after completion of the investigation.

At this, the judge extended judicial remand of the suspects and directed the jail officials to produce them again on October 23.

Earlier, the judge admonished lawyers and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers for taking selfies with Maryam Nawaz in the courtroom and causing disturbance during the proceedings.

The NAB has mainly accused Maryam of committing money laundering through investments of variable heavy amounts being main shareholder of Chaudhry Sugar Mills (CSM).

It said she was involved in money laundering with the help of some foreigners during the period of 1992-93 when Nawaz Sharif was Prime Minister.
