New York, Sep 27 (IANS) Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan raised the spectre of a "massacre" in Indian Jammu and Kashmir once curfew is lifted, during a meeting with Human Rights Watch chief Kenneth Roth on the sidelines of the UNGA here.
Imran told Roth that around "15,000 Kashmiri youth" had been detained by Indian security forces in Kashmir.
"The worst-ever human tragedy is feared in Indian-held Kashmir as India is trying to change the demography of the region," Imran said, ARY news reported.
He called upon the international human rights organisations to pressurize India to allow foreign observers to monitor the situation in Indian Jammu and Kashmir.
In a separate meeting with the editorial board of Wall Street Journal, Imran Khan said racism is often rooted in arrogance, which could result in people making huge blunders.
"That is what [Indian Prime Minister Narendra] Modi has done in occupied Kashmir," he added.
Khan said India's "repressive and illegal actions" in Kashmir would have repercussions not only for the region but for the entire Muslim world.
"The world doesn't realise we are heading for a big disaster," he stressed.
Imran Khan also said he would appeal to the United Nations for help as the clampdown in Kashmir enters its seventh week.
"They do not understand that this can go horribly wrong."
"If the UN doesn't speak about it, who is going to speak about it?" Imran said.
