The Huzurnagar seat, which was won by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Uttam Kumar Reddy in 2018, remained vacant after Reddy resigned as the MLA after he won the MP seat from Nalgonda in 2019.
Uttam Kumar Reddy, who was the sitting MLA of Huzurnagar, won the 2018 elections with a margin of 7,000 votes by defeating TRS candidate Sanampudi Saidi Reddy.
