The decision by the Government to close the Anna Canteens came as a big disappointment to the poor who used to get breakfast, lunch and dinner at a nominal price of Rs 5 each.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh did not venture to explain why they
are being shut and when they would be re-opened. It is very curious and perhaps suspicious that on 30 July 2019 in the Question Hour the Municipal Administration Minister Shri Botcha Satyanarayana in reply to a question on whether these canteens would be discontinued categorically said that they would continue to be operational.
