‘59% Indian millennials optimistic about economic outlook’

'59% Indian millennials optimistic about economic outlook'
New Delhi, May 21 (IANS) Around 59 per cent Indian millennials think the country's economic condition would improve in the coming 12 months, a Deloitte report said on Tuesday.

Similarly, around 57 per cent of Generation Z (Gen Z) expect improvement in the economic situation, said the "2019 Deloitte Global Millennial Survey".

Millennials included in the study were born between January 1983 and December 1994 and the Gen Z respondents were born between January 1995 and December 2002, Deloitte said.

The report, however, noted that this optimism among young Indians is contrary to the gloomy outlook among their global counterparts.

"Despite global economic expansion and opportunity, younger generations are wary about the world and their place in it. As against their global counterparts, Indian millennials and Gen Zs are very optimistic about the economic and political or social outlook and are overall satisfied with their lives," it said.

Around 47 per cent millennials and 38 per cent Gen Z have positive outlook for an improved social or political outlook. Globally, around 22 per cent millennials and 18 per cent Gen Z are positive about the political outlook.

The report also said: "Indian millennials and Gen Zs are more inclined to believe that business has a positive impact on society than their global counterparts."

The Deloitte report is based on the views of 13,416 millennials across 42 countries and 3,009 Gen Z respondents in 10 countries. The sample size in India was 300 each for millennials and GenZ.
