Police release 7 wanted J&K militants' posters

Jammu, March 27 (IANS) In a first move of its kind since the separatist violence started in Jammu and Kashmir, the police in the Kishtwar district on Wednesday publicised posters of wanted militants, declaring cash reward, government jobs and absolute secrecy to providers of information.

Large banners carrying photographs and details of seven wanted militants were put up by the Kishtwar police outside the police station. It
carried telephone numbers to be used for sharing information about these militants.

Shakti Pathan, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kishtwar, said it's high time that people recognise these militants, six of whom belong to the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and one to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

"Anybody giving information that leads the security forces to these wanted militants would be suitably rewarded. Also, the person helping the police to reach these militants would be given a government job and total secrecy would be maintained regarding the person/persons giving such information," Pathan said.

The banners carried photographs of wanted militants Riyaz Ahmad alias Hazari, Muhammad Amin alias Jehangir, Jamal Din alias Abu Bakr, Usman alias Osama, Talib Hussain, Junaid and Mudasir Hussain.

Police said two out of these seven militants, Muhammad Amin and Riyaz Ahmad of HM, are longest surviving militants in the district.

Security forces in the district were taken by surprise when militants killed senior BJP leader Anil Parihar and his brother Ajit Parihar in Kishtwar on November 1, 2018. The case has been taken over by the NIA.
