NTR Kathanayakudu managed to garner a decent word of mouth but the film's performance at the box office has been highly disappointing.
In it's full run, Kathanayakudu collected a total of 20.6 crores, which is nowhere near it's pre-release business, 70 crores. This film can be termed as a massive disaster on the commercial front.
It is said that Balakrishna has decided to give Mahanayakudu distribution rights free of cost to those who lost big money on Kathanayakudu.
