Maoists torch four vehicles in Jharkhand

Maoists torch four vehicles in JharkhandRanchi, Aug 20 (IANS) Maoist guerrillas on Monday set on fire four vehicles at bauxite mines in Jharkhand's Gumla district, police said.

Around 20-25 members of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist raided the mines at Serengdag in Ghaghra police station jurisdiction and set on fire three trucks and a tractor.

The Maoists also thrashed contractor Umesh Singh and the vehicle drivers and ordered the closure of the mines.

Police said the incident could be a fallout of contractor's refusal to pay levy to the Maoists.
