Indo-Russian technical training centre at Ranchi starts workRanchi, June 6 (IANS) Training in heavy engineering began on Wednesday at the Common Engineering Facility Centre set up jointly by Atomenergomash, the machine-building division of Russian state atomic energy corporation Rosatom, and India's state-run Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC), a official release here.

"The first 23 attendees from various regions of India are part-taking in the training programme for 'Technologies and Equipment for Welding of Items for Heavy and Power Engineering'", said the statement from Rosatom, equipment suppliers and technical consultants for India's Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project in Tamil Nadu whose first two units of 1,000 MW each have already been commissioned.

"In 2018, experts of the Russian institute will conduct eight more training courses in the fields of steel melting, metallurgical treatment and electroslag re-melting technologies, destructive and non-destructive testing methods, construction design and technologies for gear manufacturing.

 

"The training courses will run throughout the year and will enable to improve the skills of personnel of Indian engineering enterprises. More than 200 people are likely to attend the programme," it added.

The agreement between for setting up the training centre and joint development of new technologies for heavy and power engineering was signed in December 2015.
