Independiente beat Corinthians in Copa Libertadores tieSao Paulo (Brazil), May 3 (IANS) Argentine club Independiente boosted their chances of entering the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores football tournament with a 2-1 victory over Brazilian outfit Corinthians here.

Independiente adopted an attacking style from the very beginning of Wednesday evening's match, with their winger Martin Benitez scoring the first goal in the opening minute, reports EFE news agency.

In the 24th minute, Corinthians' forward Angel Romero scored an own goal to double the visitors' lead.
