HC seeks CBSE, Centre's reply on plea for court-monitored probe

New Delhi, April 2 (IANS) The Delhi High Court on Monday asked the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Centre to file reply on a plea seeking a court-monitored investigation into the paper leak case.

A bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C. Hari Shankar asked the CBSE, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and the Delhi Police to file their response within 10 days on the plea.

The court listed the matter for April 16 for further hearing.

The court has also asked the CBSE to explain whether there was any method to stop paper leaks in future.

The court was hearing a plea filed by NGO Social Jurist seeking the re-examination of Class 10 Maths paper preferably in April.

The petition was filed by Advocate Ashok Agarwal who has also sought consideration of granting liberal marks to the student for appearing in re-examination.

Advocate Agarwal told the court that differently-abled students were the worst sufferer as they would again have to appear in the re-examination.

He apprised the court of the widespread anger of 28 lakh students, millions of parents and the entire nation as they are holding demonstrations in front of the CBSE office.

The CBSE paper leak of Class 10 Maths and Class 12 Economics question papers has affected lakhs of students across India.

Enraged over a series of paper leaks in the ongoing CBSE examinations, students of classes 10 and 12 are now demanding an assurance from the Board and the Education Ministry that the leaks would not happen again.
