Monaco loan out Kongolo, Meite

Monaco loan out Kongolo, MeiteParis, Jan 3 (IANS) French Ligue 1 outfit Monaco have loaned out Terence Kongolo to newly-promoted English Premier League side Huddersfield for the remainder of the season, while Souahilo Meite joined Bordeaux on loan until the end of the season on the second day of the winter transfer window of the major European leagues.

The 23-year-old Dutch defender joined from Feyenoord in the last transfer window, before featuring for Monaco six times so far. He will wear the No. 5 jersey in Huddersfield until June 30 this year, reports Xinhua news agency.

"Terence is a top player who we've followed from his time at Feyenoord. His big summer move to Monaco put him out of our reach at the time, but we're delighted we can bring him in on loan now.

"He is a high-quality young center back and will provide us with a great option for the rest of the Premier League season," Huddersfield head coach David Wagner said on Tuesday.

"Terence has qualities that will really suit our style of play. He's athletic and mobile and he plays on the front foot in the way he defends and uses the ball. I'm excited to work with him during the course of the season," Wagner added.

Defensive midfielder Meite, 23, was also recruited by Monaco in the summer of 2017, with his current contract lasting until June 2022.

He played three times this season for the defending champions in the French top flight.
