Music band releases video on Rohingya issue

Kolkata, Nov 13 (IANS) Rap-rock band Underground Authority (UA) has released a music video "Boatman" on the ongoing Rohingya refugee crisis.

"We have always been very vocal about issues disturbing us as individuals. Whether it's our live concerts, or our social media platforms through which we communicate with our three lakh odd fans regularly, or theatre collaborations that we make every now and then, as artistes, we have never kept silent," the city-based band said in a statement on Monday.

Comprising Santhanam Srinivasan Iyer (EPR), Adil Rashid, Soumyadeep Bhattacharya and Sourish Kumar, the band calls its music "protest poetry".

"Killing of any human being is a crime, and when it's done systematically for any reason, it becomes a genocide that needs to be stopped. We don't know how much difference our songs can make to today's society, but we shall always speak up for what is right. Musicians must use their voices for the betterment of the society," the statement read.
