Kolkata, Nov 7 (IANS) Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL), which is looking to quadruple copper ore production, is preparing tenders to appoint mining development operator to reopen Rakha mine and develop the new Chapri-Sideshwar mine at the Singhbhum copper belt in eastern India, a top company official said on Tuesday.
"We are in the process of preparing tenders to appoint a mining development operator for Rakha mine and adjoining mine of Chapri-Sideshwar," company Chairman and Managing Director Santosh Sharma said here.
The company is planning to reopen the closed underground Rakha mine and to develop Chapri- Sideshwar mine which would be the greenfield project, he said.
The miner embarked on the expansion drive to quadruple copper ore production from its current level of 3.4 million tonnes per annum to 12.4 million tonnes per annum in the next five years, he said.
HCL on Tuesday said its Board of Directors at its meeting on Friday will consider the proposal to increase the borrowing limits from the bank consortium or other banks.
