Mercury drops but winter still elusive

Mercury drops but winter still elusiveNew Delhi, Oct 30 (IANS) The national capital on Monday saw a slight dip in mercury, with maximum temperature recorded at 30 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average.

According to weather analysts, due to the northwesterly winds, which are dry in nature, the maximum temperature may not fall beyond 29-30 degrees. However, the minimum temperature may see a marginal fall.

"Currently, the wind patterns have changed and maximum temperature would not see much change for the next two-three days. It will, however, increase by a few degrees after that," Mahesh Palawat, Director at private weather analysis agency Skymet said.

"Both minimum and maximum temperature would start falling from November 10-11 onwards," Palawat added.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the sky would remain clear on Tuesday, with maximum and minimum temperature likely to hover around 31 and 16 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The minimum temperature on Monday was recorded at 16.7 degrees Celsius and the humidity oscillated between 67 and 92 per cent.

The maximum temperature on Sunday settled at 32.6 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season's average, and the minimum temperature was recorded at 16.7 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season's average.
