Morocco court postpones north-eastern protest trials

Morocco court postpones north-eastern protest trialsRabat, Oct 18 (IANS) A Moroccan court has postponed until October 24 the trial of 21 protesters arrested for their role in organising demonstrations that rocked the north-eastern region for months.

They face charges ranging from conspiring against the state to protesting without authorization, Xinhua reported.

Dozens of family members chanted outside the Casablanca courthouse where the detained protest leaders were due to go on trial.

The trial date has not been set for Nasser Zefzafi, the movement leader, who faces the charge of undermining state security.

The protest movement erupted after a fish vendor was crushed to death last year in the city of Al Hoceima.
