Kejriwal urges Baijal to strengthen law and order

New Delhi, Oct 13 (IANS) A day after a police complaint about the theft of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's blue Wagon R car, the AAP leader on Friday urged Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal to strengthen law and order in the city.

"My car got stolen -- it is a small thing. But the Chief Minister's car got stolen near the Secretariat - this points to deteriorating law and order in the city," Kejriwal said in a letter to Baijal.

The Chief Minister also said that the Delhi government will extend full cooperation to strengthening law and order in the national capital.

Delhi Police comes under the Lt Governor's jurisdiction in the national capital.

Kejriwal said crime against women, thefts and drug abuse had increased in Delhi in the past few months.

The car, registered in the name of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was at present being used by the party's Media Coordinator Vandana Singh. It was stolen from outside Delhi Secretariat Gate number 3 on Thursday afternoon. An FIR has been registered.

The car was gifted to Kejriwal by a party supporter. The Chief Minister now uses an official car.
