Rabat, Oct 11 (IANS/MAP) Morocco on Wednesday rejected the unilateral process of independence of Catalonia and called it "irresponsible" and "unsustainable".
"The Kingdom of Morocco... rejects the unilateral process of independence of Catalonia and expresses its attachment to sovereignty, national unity and the territorial integrity of Spain," said a statement by the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The statement said that the unilateral decision announced on Tuesday was a "source of instability and division not only in Spain but throughout its European neighbourhood".
"The Moroccon government is confident in the ability of the Spanish government to wisely manage this situation with a view to preserving the constitutional order and to act in the supreme interest of the Spanish nation and the European continent," the statement said.
