Srinagar, Oct 11 (IANS) Two militants were killed on Wednesday in a gunfight with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district, officials said.
"Two terrorists have been killed in an ongoing gunfight in Hajin area of Bandipora district," Defence Ministry Spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said here.
Police sources said security forces surrounded Paribal village in Hajin area in the early hours of Wednesday following specific inputs about the presence of militants there.
"As the security forces came close to the house where the militants were hiding, they were fired at by hiding militants triggering an encounter in which two militants were killed," sources said.
There are reports of two army soldiers having sustained critical injuries during the gunfight but these are yet to confirmed by the Defence Ministry sources.
