Lucknow, Aug 30 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday issued instructions to District Magistrates of all flood-affected areas to run a campaign for immunisation against diseases that usually break out during and after floods, an official said.
State Chief Secretary Rajiv Kumar asked officials to ensure that there was no paucity of medicines and vaccines in these areas.
He also directed for random checking of the distribution of medicines and the immunisation programme.
Kumar said that anti-venom medicines should be made available at every flood relief centre, along with community health centres and primary health centres, to handle snake bites and other insect bites.
The top bureaucrat also reviewed the rescue and relief work in the affected districts.
Many parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, including districts like Siddharthnagar, Gorakhpur, Balrampur, Shrawasti and Maharajganj, have been ravaged by floods and thousands of villages have been inundated while millions have been rendered homeless.
