Los Angeles gallery to host O.J. Simpson exhibition

Los Angeles gallery to host O.J. Simpson exhibitionLos Angeles, Aug 18 (IANS) A Los Angeles gallery on Friday will host a pop-up exhibition on former NFL star O.J. Simpson.

Titled "The O.J. Simpson Museum", the exhibition will feature a series of items related to the Simpson case, from T-shirts to books to a Ford Bronco similar to the one that carried Simpson in the infamous 1994 chase when he tried to evade Los Angeles police, reports Efe news.

"The O.J. trial has been a lifelong obsession of mine. Everyone knows the media version (of the Simpson trial), but the O.J. Museum is the vernacular of the people," the curator of the exhibition, Adam Papagan, said in a news release.

The exhibition will start on Friday at the Coagula Curatorial gallery and will conclude on August 22.

Simpson was charged with the murders of his former wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend Ronald Goldman, who were stabbed to death on June 12, 1994.

The trial ended nine months later, and Simpson was found not guilty and released due to the absence of conclusive evidence against him.

In a civil trial in 1997, he was found liable in a wrongful death case and was ordered to pay damages of $33.5 million.

Simpson later went to jail for a crime committed in 2007, when he and five other men stormed a room in a hotel in Las Vegas to acquire collector's items, among which there were articles he considered to be his family's property.

Last month, it was announced that Simpson will be released on parole in October after serving nine years of his sentence for armed robbery and kidnapping.
