Kiev, Aug 18 (IANS) The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) accused Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) of plotting sabotage activities in Ukraine, the media reported.
"The Russian FSB continues to send sabotage groups to the Ukrainian soil to commit acts of violence on our territory. The strategic facilities of the vital infrastructure are the main targets," head of the SBU Vasyl Hrytsak told reporters on Thursday.
He added that "another goal could be the assassination of certain social and political figures", Xinhua news agency reported.
In the past month, the SBU has found out three groups of saboteurs, allegedly Russian intelligence officers, who were plotting subversive activities, Hrytsak said.
There was no immediate response to the accusations from the FSB.
On Tuesday, the FSB said that it had detained an SBU officer who was plotting sabotage against infrastructure facilities in Crimea. The Ukrainian intelligence agency has denied the report.
