State Bharatiya Janata Party President Dilip Ghosh rubbished the state government's oft-repeated allegations that the Centre was not doing its bit to help the state tackle the floods.
"The state government is only trying to pass the buck by heaping blame on the Centre," Ghosh told media persons here.
"There is lack of seriousness on state government's part in combating floods. There is little coordination between the Ministers and the junior officers working on the ground," he said.
Ghosh accused the Trinamool Congress government of seeking astronomical sums of money from the Centre.
"The central government has extended all assistance. But the Bengal government only demands more and more money so that the ruling party can misappropriate the money," AGhosh said.
Twelve lives have been lost and over half a million people affected by the floods in northern West Bengal. Earlier, the floods had ravaged the southern districts in the state.
