Schoolkids, Koli people tie rakhis on President

New Delhi, Aug 7 (IANS) Schoolchildren and members of the Koli community on Monday tied rakhis on the wrist of President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan here to celebrate Raksha Bandhan, a festival that denotes ties of affection between brothers and sisters.

Children, attired in colourful traditional outfits as also in school uniform, greeted the President along with a delegation of 116 women and 27 men, representing the Gujarat Koli Samaj.

 

Earlier, in his greetings on Raksha Bandhan, the President wished that the festival, symbolising the virtues of love, affection and mutual trust, brings happiness and prosperity to the people.
