Washington, July 26 (IANS) A US Senate Committee has dropped the subpoena against Paul Manafort, former head of the presidential campaign of Donald Trump, who was to testify on Wednesday as part of the investigation into the alleged Russian interference in the 2016 elections.

Manafort's lawyers were negotiating a closed-door meeting between the two parties and exchanges of information with the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Efe news reported.

Manafort, in fact, had already met with the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday which was also looking into the Russian plot. The Senate Judiciary Committee wanted both Manafort and Trump's eldest son to appear at a public hearing Wednesday.
