14 Bangladeshi nationals held for encroaching landKolkata, July 25 (IANS) Fourteen Bangladeshi nationals, including four women and three minors, have been remanded to 14 days judicial custody by a West Bengal court on charges of encroaching on Indian territory without proper documents, police said.

The group was arrested from a bus in North 24 Pargana district's Gaighata on Monday evening during a vigil.

"Seven men four women and three children were detained while travelling in a bus in front of Gaighata police station on Monday. They were arrested later for encroachment as they failed to produce any valid migration documents," an officer from Gaighata police station said.

 

According to police, on interrogation the detained people said they were going to Kolkata first and then to Bengaluru, to meet some of their family members who stay there.

"There were no major seizures from the people apart from some cash and clothes. They were produced in a Barasat court on Tuesday and have been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody," the officer added.
