FINA honours Indian swimming federation CEOBudapest, July 23 (IANS) FINA, the association governing international competitions in water sports, has honoured Swimming Federation of India CEO Virendra Nanavati for his services to the discipline.

Nanavati, who also serves as the Senior Vice President of Indian Olympic Association (IOA), was presented the certificate here on Saturday during the 17th FINA World Championship by President Julio Maglione, the Swimming Federation of India announced in a statement on Sunday.

FINA currently oversees competition in five aquatics sports: swimming, diving, synchronised swimming, water polo and open water swimming. Beginning in 2013, high diving emerged as a discipline within FINA. It also oversees "Masters" competition (for adults) in its disciplines.
