Gang promising jobs abroad busted in Ghaziabad

Gang promising jobs abroad busted in GhaziabadGhaziabad, July 14 (IANS) Police have busted a gang that cheated more than 150 people from across the country of money after promising to send them abroad for jobs, police said on Friday.

Superintendent of Police Akash Tomar said they had seized 155 passports of people from different states besides misleading pamphlets and a register containing names.

Tomar said the police acted after four persons lodged a complaint that they had been cheated in the name of providing them work in Saudi Arabia.

The four, from Jharkhand and Bihar, were lured by an advertisement that a company based at Crossings Republik here was looking for plumbers, technicians and electricians to send them to Saudi Arabia.

Some 200 applicants were selected and were asked to deposit their passports and money with the company.

But when the four reached the company's office to go to the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, it was locked. Zunaid, Abrar, Shahid and Shamshad then complained to police.

"We arrested one of the accused, Kamlesh Prasad, who confessed to the crime and revealed that his accomplices were Mazhar Ansari and Riyazuddin," Tomar said. The other two are on the run.
