Mumbai, July 11 (IANS) Positive global cues and healthy buying in automobile, IT and capital goods stocks pushed the Indian equity markets to fresh closing highs on Tuesday.
Around 3.30 p.m., the wider Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) provisionally closed at a new high of 9,786.05 points -- up 15 points, or 0.15 per cent, over Monday's closing.
The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the BSE, which opened at 31,789.50 points, provisionally closed at a fresh peak of 31,747.09 points -- up 31.45 points, or 0.10 per cent, from Monday's close at 31,715.64 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 31,885.11 points -- a new record -- and a low of 31,718.48 points during the intra-day trade.
