Congress criticises sending 2 men to jail over Delhi Assembly ruckusNew Delhi, June 28 (IANS) The Congress on Wednesday condemned the "harsh punishment" handed out to two men, who created a ruckus in the Delhi Assembly alleging corruption by the Delhi government, saying it was against the spirit of "democratic values".

"It was an unfortunate incident in the history of the Delhi Assembly that two youths have been sent to jail for one-month for throwing paper missiles from the visitors' gallery at Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain by the Delhi Assembly Speaker (Ram Niwas Goel)," Delhi Congress unit chief Ajay Maken told reporters.

"The harsh punishment handed out to the two youths was against the spirit of democratic values," he said.

He also said if these two youths had created any obstruction in the functioning of the special Assembly session, handing out such a harsh jail term to the two men was "undemocratic".

Maken's remarks came after two men identified as AAP members Jagdeep Rana and Rajan Madan created ruckus in the Delhi Assembly on Wednesday when they threw printed slips of paper alleging corruption by the Delhi government and shouted slogans against Minister Satyendar Jain. The two were taken in custody.
