Hyderabad, June 2 (IANS) The Telangana government has extended financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to a youth who lost his limbs during an attempted suicide in 2011 during the movement in support of the separate state.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao sanctioned the assistance to Pidamarthi Nagaraju of Rayanigudem village in Garidepally block of Nalgonda district, a statement from the Chief Minister's Office said.
Leaders of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) presented the cheque to Nagaraju on Friday on the third formation day of Telangana state.
On August 15, 2011, Nagaraju attempted suicide by jumping before a moving train in Miraylaguda. He survived but lost both his legs and a hand.
Several youths committed suicide between 2009 and 2013 in protest against the delay in the formation of Telangana.
