Rome, May 18 (IANS) Australian tennis player Daria Gavrilova on Thursday knocked out Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova to secure her place in the Italian Open quarterfinals.
Kuznetsova said goodbye to the tournament after losing 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 to Gavrilova, who had eliminated American Madison Keys, runner-up last year, and Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, reports Efe.
In the next round, Gavrilova is set to play the winner of the match between Russian Ekaterina Makarova and Dutch Kiki Bertens.
