Indian-American filmmaker joins Women in Film as director

Los Angeles, March 23 (IANS) Indian-American filmmaker Nisha Ganatra has been named as one of the four new directors of popular NGO Women In Film. The organisation is dedicated to promoting equal opportunities for women and encouraging creative projects by them in all mediums of media.

Besides Ganatra, Women in Film has also elected as new board members Netflix's Vice President of content Bela Bajaria, DreamWorks Animation's global theatrical PR chief Terry Curtin and accountancy corporation Encino owner Laura W. Gordon, reports variety.com.

 

Ganatra, whose family lives in India, received a Golden Globe Award for her work as director and producer of the popular series "Transparent". Her other directing credits include "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", "Mr. Robot" and "Girls".

"The 2017 Women In Film Board of Directors is an enormously impressive group of the best and brightest people in Hollywood devoted to sustainable progress in the intersection between gender and media," board President Cathy Schulman said in a statement.
