Malaga (Spain), March 7 (IANS) Spanish football club Malaga announced on Tuesday that it has parted ways with Uruguayan chief coach Marcelo 'Gato' Romero, who succeeded Juande Ramos last December.

The decision has been taken after a mutual agreement between the coach and the club, Malaga explained in a statement, reports Efe.

The club thanked the 40-year-old coach for his dedication, honesty and efforts with the team.

 

Romero expressed in a statement his gratitude for getting the opportunity to lead Malaga.

The Uruguayan coach also thanked Malaga president Qatari Sheikh Abdullah al-Thani and praised the support of sporting director Francesc Arnau.

Malaga are currently 15th in the La Liga standings.
