President greets Gambia on its Independence Day

New Delhi, Feb 17 (IANS) President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday extended greetings to the people and government of Gambia on their Independence Day and expressed confidence in friendly bilateral relations between both countries in future.

"On behalf of the government and the people of India, I extend greetings to you and to the government and the people of the Islamic Republic of the Gambia on the occasion of your Independence Day," Mukherjee said in a message to Gambia's President Adama Barrow.

 

"I am confident that our close and friendly bilateral relationships will continue to strengthen in the years to come," he said.

Mukherjee also conveyed his good wishes for Barrow's health and well being.

"Please accept, Excellency, my good wishes for your personal health and well being, as well as for the progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Gambia."
