Ashok Leyland opens assembly plant in Bangladesh
Chennai, Feb 2 (IANS) Indian commercial vehicle major Ashok Leyland on Thursday announced the opening of its assembly plant in Dhaka in Bangladesh.

In a statement, Ashok Leyland said it has set up the 600-800 units per month assembly plant in joint collaboration/tie-up with IFAD Autos Ltd, Bangladesh.

"With a comprehensive product portfolio, Ashok Leyland is working towards a renewed thrust in the international markets, with network expansion and dedicated products," Vinod K. Dasari, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Ashok Leyland, said in the statement.

 

"Bangladesh is an important market for Ashok Leyland. With the inauguration of this new plant, together with the robust presence of IFAD Autos, we expect to make significant inroads into this region," Dasari added.

In two years' time, the assembly plant will also be facilitated with a bodybuilding and vehicle testing facility.

"Bangladesh is a country that is developing very quickly. In such a scenario, Ashok Leyland vehicles will prove to be a boon for the country's infrastructure," Taskeen Ahmed, Managing Director, IFAD Autos, said.
