London, Jan 18 (PTI) Singer Olivia Newton-John is "grateful" to have diagnosed with cancer as she says it has "taught her a lot about compassion.
The 68-year-old star, who was diagnosed with breast cancer over two decades ago and whilst it was a tough time for her, she says "without it I would not have done many of the things I have done in my life," reported Femalefirst.
"I am grateful for the experience. It's taught me compassion for those going through difficult times," Olivia said.
Olivia earlier said that having a positive attitude helped her get her health back on track.
"After I had my treatment, I had counselling, which helped me to think about the importance of my feelings. Having cancer forced me to think deeply about myself for the first time, so it was a positive experience in that respect. I also realised you had to eat well, exercise and be happy," she said at the time.
