Pakistan Senate deplores Modi for terrorism slur
Islamabad, Jan 16 (IANS) The Pakistan Senate on Monday unanimously passed a resolution that condemns Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for attributing terrorism to Pakistan at various international forums, including the BRICS Summit held in Goa last year.

The resolution was moved by Pakistan Peoples Party member Sehar Kamran, who appreciated the international community for its reaction to "this baseless propaganda by the Indian Prime Minister," Radio Pakistan reported.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the BRICS forum in October to keep up his attack on Pakistan. He described it as the "mother ship" of terrorism that posed a direct threat to the "eco prosperity" of the South Asian region.

"Tragically, its (terrorism) mother ship is a country in India's neighbourhood," Modi said.

The resolution said: "The statement made by the Indian PM was an effort to divert the attention of the International Community from the its atrocities against the people of Occupied Kashmir."

The Pakistan Senate resolution reiterated that there will be no compromise on the sovereignty and defence of Pakistan and resolved to fight against terrorism and contribute towards bringing peace and harmony in the world.

Speaking in the upper house of Pakistan's Parliament, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said Pakistan will continue political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiris in their just struggle for right to self-determination.

The minister said India was making "failed attempts to link the Kashmir freedom movement with cross-border infiltration and terrorism". He said India's campaign has failed at the diplomatic fronts.

Asif said India was also afraid of Pakistan's success in the fight against terrorism, which has been recognised by the world and international organisations.
