Special kids learn coding and computer science
New Delhi, Dec 8 (IANS) A group of special children here on Thursday was given lessons in coding and computer science in a programme organised by Microsoft in collaboration with NGO Tamana to promote inclusive IT-based opportunities.

The day-long workshop promoted opportunities in IT-based employability for youth with special abilities and endeavoured to drive awareness around building inclusive eco systems for communities with special needs.

The event was hosted under Microsoft's week long programme Hour of Code under which they are conducting sessions for students all over the country.

"At Microsoft, our mission is to empower every person and organisation on the planet to achieve more. We are committed to helping the young generation to realise their full potential, by equipping them with future-ready skills," Manju Dhasmana, lead philanthropist and CSR, Microsoft India, said in a statement on Thursday.

"In today's technology-driven world, coding along with computer science education at an early stage is crucial to develop computational, critical thinking, and problem solving skills, among today's youth," she said.

"These are essential for the future workforce, and today's event offers a unique opportunity to learn these in an easy and interactive way, opening new stream of opportunities," she explained.
