Panaji, Nov 22 (IANS) The Goa government on Tuesday stopped all recruitment in government departments as well as government-aided institutions to facilitate the smooth implementation of the 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations.
An order issued on by Additional Secretary (Personnel) Yatendra Maralkar, also says that all government departments should carry out an assessment of staffing requirements with assistance from the Administrative Reforms Department.
"Government is in the process of finalising the instructions related to the implementation in respect of pay and allowances to the employees of the government and government-aided institutions.
"While doing so, it is required that an adequate balance is maintained considering the additional enhanced liabilities on account of increase in salary and pension vis a vis the existing strength of the government and government-aided employees," the official said in the order.
"In order to ensure that there is sufficient adequacy of funds for payment of enhanced salaries and pension, so that implementation of the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission is carried out in a smooth manner, it is required to halt all recruitment processes in the government departments as well as government-aided institutions," the order said.
The order also said that all recruitment processes currently in progress in government departments and government-aided institutions shall be kept on hold.
Goa has more than 50,000 government employees and tops the rest of the Indian states as far as the bureaucrat-population ratio is concerned.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has assured government servants in Goa that the recommendations of the Commission would be implemented soon. The state goes to the polls in early 2017.
