13 persons die in Madhya Pradesh due to diarrhoea
Badwani (Madhya Pradesh), Oct 27 (IANS) At least 13 persons have died in the past 12 days due to diarrhoea in Madhya Pradesh's Badwani district, police said on Thursday.

The health department had written to experts about the outbreak but the reason behind the diarrhoea is not clear yet.

The members of Adivasi Mukti Sangathan and Public Health Campaign on Thursday told reporters here that the deaths occurred between October 15 to 26.

According to details, 13 persons lost their lives in the villages around Khetiya town.

Adivasi Mukti Sangathan's Gajanand Brahmane said after visiting the victims' houses that they found that most had complaints of vomiting and diarrhoea and died in one or two days.

According to Rakesh Kannauje of Adivasi Mukti Sangathan, the District Magistrate Tejaswi Nayak also went to the areas affected by the disease and said that contaminated food and water was the reason behind the deaths. Nayak also gave Rs 10,000 to one of the families of the deceased.

"The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. We are waiting for the results," said Chief Medical Officer Dawar.

Though he refused to say what led to the deaths, he said that two of the post-mortem reports came up with the cholera as the reason.
