Every once in a while comes a director that takes the industry by storm, he comes the face of the industry and people look up to him and youngsters adore him. He has status equal to that of stars and them, along with producer always for his dates. A director in Telugu film industry today who commands such respect and adulation is Sensational Director SS Rajamouli aka Jakkanna.
The director’s Baahubali has broken the boundaries of the commercial cinema of Telugu Film Industry. It has shown a glimpse of its true potential by collecting 600 Cr worldwide. It has become the talk of not just the TFI but a sensation across the globe. It has opened TFI to hitherto unexplored market. If one asks about the most eagerly awaited movie of the year 2017, the one name that would be common across all the industries is Baahubali 2, such is the impact.
What makes Baahubali such huge monument is also what makes director Rajamouli such a big brand. His dedication and passion in creating a project, that is fresh in terms of subject and nothing less of a Hollywood project, in terms of quality and grandness is what makes him, one of a kind in TFI.
The journey started with the film Student No 1 which recently completed 15 years. It was a film that launched two career’s, one of that of SS Rajamouli and the other one of Jr NTR. He set a target for him and challenged that he would make Jr NTR, a crazy mass star and achieved that target with his second back to back film with Jr NTR, Simhadri. It created New Tollywood Records and established him as a top director.
What followed immediately were complete commercial flicks with a slick and unseen before packaging. This has been his success mantra and he proved that with films like Sye, Chatrapathi and Vikramarkudu that proved to be major game changers in the career of the respective stars as well as trendsetters for the industry. He continued in the same vein and joined hands with Jr NTR for the third time for the film Yamadonga. It was a hat-trick success but more than that it sowed seeds of fantasy epic that would in future create an impact whose sounds will forever reverberate.
It was his seventh film with Ram Charan, Magadheera, which brought the nation’s spotlight on him. The film was a historic hit at the box office shattering all the previous box office records. He then turned comedian Sunil into a hero overnight and followed it with a movie on a fly (Eega) that shattered all the commercial formulae and industry boundary limitations. What happened next is known to everyone now.
SS Rajamouli is taking the experience of Baahubali several notches higher with Virtual Reality experience. But it is just tip of the iceberg considering everything that he has in store for movie lovers in Baahubali 2.
