Tehran, Aug 22 (IANS) Iran said on Monday that Russia has stopped using its Hamedan air base for carrying out air strikes at Islamic State strongholds in Syria.
"Russia neither has a military base in Iran nor has it established one. It was the subject which is over for now," Xinhua quoted Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi as saying.
The operations from Iran's air base started on August 16 as confirmed by the Russian Defence Ministry and Iranian officials.
Tehran may allow Russian fighters to use more air bases of the country in the fight against terrorism in the region, Iranian Defence Minister Hossein Deqhan said on Saturday.
