Kolkata, July 25 (IANS) FMCG major ITC Ltd on Monday said it re-designated its whole time Director Sanjiv Puri as Chief Operating Officer with immediate effect.
"The Board of Directors at the meeting held on July 22, 2016, redesignated Sanjiv Puri, Wholetime Director, also as Chief Operating Officer of the Company with immediate effect," the company said in a filing to BSE.
Puri, 53, who had joined the company in 1986, was appointed as an additional executive director on its board on December 6, 2015.
An alumnus of the IIT-Kanpur, he is now overseeing the FMCG, paper & packaging, paperboards and agri businesses of the conglomerate.
Prior to his appointment as director, he was president of FMCG businesses including cigarettes, foods, personal care, education & stationery products, matches and agarbattis since December 2014.
During the company's 105th annual general meeting on Friday, Chairman and CEO Y C Deveshwar had said his company aspires to be top player in the non-cigarette FMCG business and set a revenue target of Rs. 1,00,000 crore by 2030.
Addressing shareholders in the joint capacity of Chairman and CEO, he said: "I am very happy to say that we have a world-class youthful team at ITC and that is going to take this company forward and will out do what we did in the past."
Deveshwar would become a non-executive chairman of the company from February 5, 2017 after leading ITC over 20 years.
Presently, the company's non-cigarette businesses including foods, personal care, hotels, paper, agriculture, information technology and others account for over 50 per cent of its net revenues.
