Mali declares state of emergency following violenceDakar, July 21 (IANS) Mali on Wednesday declared a state of emergency for 10 days after an attack killed at least 10 soldiers and wounded dozens of others at a Malian military base in the central city of Nampala on Tuesday.

The government also announced a three-day period of mourning for the victims of the terrorist attack in Nampala, Xinhua reported.

The military base was attacked by unidentified militants, resulting in many deaths and injures.

 

In late June, the UN Security Council decided to increase the force level of UN peacekeeping mission in Mali to counter grave security situation provoked by armed groups in the country.
